Selecting the Customer

Yesterday, I went with Mauri for dimsum somewhere in chinatown. The food was quite nice, the place is more like family restaurant, with a semi traditional chinese decoration. Surprisingly, many tourists come to this place, maybe because the strategic location? As I said before, there is nothing wrong about the food (it's is nice), or the service, well, maybe something a little bit wrong with the service. I find few of the waiters are selecting their customers, just because they saw us (Mauri and Me), and they think we're locals, we are Chinese (but we don't speak---well, I need to learn), so as I can recall, the waiter keep speaking in Chinese although we replied in English, and somehow behaves a little bit rude? Then we both think maybe it's their culture? Or it's just the people? Then, after we sat for around 15 minutes, there are many tourists in one big group came and one couple was sitting next to our table. When they ordered, the same waiter, speak English! Ya, so you can speak to them but not to us? So, if the customers are ang mo, they will treated well? That rude behavior happened first few times, then I think they realize we're not locals, so I find in the end they behaved better?

I would consider to go again sometime for the food, or if there is a good promotion, other than that, maybe no.

I experienced almost the same thing in Singapore. Usually they are pissed coz we look Chinese but we won't speak in Chinese. They don't know that it's not that we wont but we just can't speak the language...

If I can speak in Chinese, I absolutely will talk to them in Chinese.

(-_-) Well, blame these narrow eyes. Hahaha
